Properties of minerals: Color- visible to the eye Streak- the color a mineral makes when scratched across a white tile Luster- the amount of light the mineral reflects Hardness- can be tested by trying to scratch the mineral with a finger nail or another mineral. Measured on Moh's hardness scale. (The hardest mineral is a diamond). Cleavage- the way a mineral breaks. 2. Students will be responsible for knowing the difference between a rock and a mineral.
