Math- Subtraction with regrouping. We are learning the standard algorithm that we all used growing up so help your children with confidence. The only difference is that we no longer say borrow. Math Practice- We are working on fluency with addition and subtraction facts. websites: math magician, abcya.com Writing- We are continuing to work on our opinion pieces. Question for conversation: What strong opinion are you writing about in your paper? What are your reasons for your opinion? Reading- Character Analysis. Questions for conversations: Who is one of the characters in the book? How could you describe their feelings? How do their feelings affect the story? You could replace the word feelings with actions, sayings, or thoughts as the week progresses. Science- Rocks and Minerals. Questions for conversations: What is the difference between a rock and a mineral? What are the properties of rocks? What type of rocks did you learn about today? Properties- color, streak, luster, hardness, cleavage Types of Rocks- Igneous (Tues), Sedimentary (Wed), Metamorphic (Fri) Review: Map skills: Latitude, Longitude, Prime Meridian, Equator. Ask your student to teach you our song. Longitude and Latitude Song Ask them to locate Greece on a map.
