We are enjoying the new laptop cart! This week in room 204!I have a goal to be better about blogging and sharing information about what is going on in our classroom. Thank you for understanding that, when it doesn't happen, I am busy making sure all the "goings on in the classroom" are "going on" :0). Here is a breakdown of what we are covering in each subject this week: Science: We have been talking about Weathering and Erosion. Ask your student if they can tell you the difference between the two or give you a few examples. There are a lot of videos on Youtube that you could watch together about weathering and erosion. We will have a test on Friday. I think you will be impressed with how much they can explain. Math: We are working on multiplying and dividing by 3 & 4 this week. At home students can be working with flashcards, First in Math, and counting by 3's to prepare for the 3's times test this Friday. This nine weeks we are focusing on two step word problems. Reading: We are learning about non-literal language including Idioms, Similes, and Metaphors. Our phrase for the week is "Don't be Amelia Bedelia; understand non-literal language." At home you could think together of a list of idioms we use everyday without realizing it. Ex. It's raining cats and dogs. Writing: We are working on narrative writing. Last week the students worked hard on developing their main character and setting. Today they mapped out a story plan including a problem their character will face. Tomorrow they will begin writing their stories. Ask your student about their character. They are really enjoying the creative writing process and sharing their work! Spelling: List 10- almost, live, page, got, earth, prince, dance, fence, piece, peace, leave, twelve, glove, solve, prove, tease, choose, cheese, loose, wise. Important Dates: November 12- progress reports (only for students possibly receiving a 1 on any area of their report card) November 18 - Thanksgiving Lunch
